Position Details:
  • Scranton OpCo Location: 100 West End Rd., Hanover Township PA 18706
  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00AM - 5:00PM, with the possibility of Sunday and night-shift work
    • Subject to change based on business needs
  • Travel: up to 15%, including site visits and customer locations, as well as to 3 domiciles for this OpCo
  • Compensation: $95,000 - $110,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus bonus potential based on KPIs!
Job Summary:
The Operations Manager Development Program (MDP) is designed to prepare high-potential candidates for future leadership roles within the organization. This position provides hands-on experience in distribution center operations and leadership development, with exposure to key operational areas including Warehouse, Transportation, Inventory, and Facilities management.
As an Operations Manager (MDP) Trainee, you will work closely with experienced leaders to gain practical knowledge of operational processes, safety and compliance standards, workforce management, and financial performance. The role offers the opportunity to develop leadership skills through supervising associates, managing operational activities, and participating in cross-functional projects that support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Trainees will actively contribute to achieving operational goals, supporting an established operations budget, and assisting with strategic initiatives to accommodate business growth and evolving customer needs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Participate in structured training to develop knowledge of operational systems, safety programs, and performance management practices.
  • Learn and support OSHA safety programs, operational business processes, systems, and tools utilized within the distribution environment.
  • Collaborate with frontline leaders including Warehouse Managers, Transportation Managers, Inventory Managers, and District Sales Managers to understand daily operational activities.
  • Supervise associates as assigned, including responsibilities related to staffing, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by reinforcing safety programs, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring proper safety procedures, equipment, and attire are followed.
  • Partner with the Transportation Manager to maintain operational efficiency and ensure accurate, timely loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Assist with scheduling workloads, coordinating warehouse activities, and monitoring productivity to meet service and delivery expectations.
  • Support inventory management processes and ensure customers are notified of product shortages or substitutions by coordinating with Customer Service, Warehouse Supervisors, and Operations leadership.
  • Ensure building, equipment, and facility maintenance standards are upheld through coordination of repair and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete the assigned training curriculum and all required development programs within the trainee program.
  • Contribute to projects focused on operational improvement, cost control, and process optimization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment that may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and heavy equipment.
  • May require standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate powered material handling equipment where applicable (training provided as required).

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or transportation operations.
• Minimum of 5 years managing and leading/supervising a team of 50+ associates, including operational workflows.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience meeting KPI metrics, optimizing workflow, process improvement & efficiency, managing budgets and driving team performance to meet company goals.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced distribution environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
• Experience of all warehouse phases within foodservice distribution, wholesale, retail, or convenience store supply chains industry.
• Experience managing or supporting operational budgets or P&L responsibilities.
• Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation systems, and operational analytics.
• OSHA Forklift operator certificate and experience operating material handling equipment preferred.
